Гроты Брынзень

Описание

The reefs southeast of the village, specifically the "Mersana Zone," are a natural complex featuring two large shell reefs. One is located at the confluence of the Racovac and Dragište rivers and is approximately 135 meters high, while the second, 167 meters high, is located on the left bank of the Racovac. Within the walls of the second reef are the Brynzeni Caves, a state-protected complex.

The caves are over 500,000 years old. Archaeologists have determined that the Mersana Cave was inhabited during the Mesolithic, Chalcolithic, and Bronze Ages. Fragments of certain tools found in the cave indicate that it was a natural shelter for prehistoric humans. The Mersana Grotto is an open-air museum.
